I'm interest in runnin this, but I have no idea how to run a build like this.

Is it just stack as many hexes as possible on the closest warrio/ranger in sight?

Spitefull Spirit is just like any other hex, it doesnt imply a hex stacking build (always). However, what you should note is that as a hex it is likely to be removed very quickly; and that it really only functions well at 16 curses. This limits your options, but doesnt completely shut out possibilities. Also note that it has a 10 second recharge; it was meant to be spread around on targets.

You should probably bring something like parasitic bond along. Then hit your target with spiteful, followed by parasitic as a cover. If they remove parasitic, you get healed anyway, which is always nice.

I wouldn't suggest it in GvG, but it can be taken in tombs to use against IWAY teams (they have poor hex removal and often times will attempt to attack through it.) However in both tombs and GvG there are better elites that can be taken.

The same goes for hexes AND enchants. Have a really important enchant on a pivitol player? Cover it with Holy Veil. The most obvious choice for hex cover was already mentioned with parasitic bond. But this isn't a thread about intelligent hex and enchant placement. Spiteful is a good hex simply because of the fact that, if used correctly, with covers, it will completely disorient a mediocre team. ESPECIALLY if the warrior is mediocre and attempts to attack through it, relying on quick hex removal or just plain old not thinking. Someone mentioned that there are better elites, as with everything in this game, it is all dependant upon the composition of your team. In some cases, it's the best elite to bring to compliment your setup.

which is exactly what the ghost does with spitefull spirit on him. he will hack and slash like there is no tomorrow.

good thing about spitefull is that it will last for 21 seconds at 16 curse with a 10 secon recharge. that means after 10 seconds of the first cast you can maintian it on 2 different targets the entire battle. most smart players never do anything when spitefull is on them. its a great shutdown skill as well.

Hexes are an all or nothing proposition. If you're going spiteful, then you want to have a lot of hexes in your team's build so that you're overloading the other team's hex removal. You'll need hexes on multiple targets and they'll need to be sufficiently annoying (so they don't just take off spiteful). Malaise and parasitic are nice spammables.. shadow of fear, panic, etc.

There are some exceptions to this. Things like rigor and lingering can be useful even with just a couple secs. Mesmer hexes like diversion and shame that trigger quickly don't require cover hexes or hex removal overload.

But for something like spiteful, you'll have to devote a large part of the team build.. otherwise you're just fueling their inspired or making them use an occassional convert.

Because spiteful can be spammed on multiple targets with the 10 sec recharge, one necro with parasitic bond as a cover should be able to out hex a normal hex removal set-up, where the monks are running inspired or convert as normal hex removal.
Note also that if monks are spending time hex removing they are not healing, so often your timing here is important.

In terms of a build, I would think 4 basics you would bring if you were running a spiteful necro is

Spiteful spirit
Parasitic bond (the ideal cover hex)
Suffering (hex, not well)
Consume corpse (as necro primary corpse control is usually your resposnibility)
Res Sig (do I even need to explain?)

Curses obviously at 16, soul reaping should be high too with a little bit in death.

That leaves 3 that are build dependant. But the first 5 would generally be required in most builds if you are running spiteful as an elite. All builds need to be matched so I'm just siggesting a starting point.

But good advice above, whack in on ghosty, and put it on IWAY pets too. And watch w/mo's try to run frenzy through it. Oh yes, pray hard for this situation.

Hex stacker, you probably want 2 spiteful necros along with other curses and then two migraine messes, then probably a w/mo succor battlerage. Have one necro/ele bring gale and the other bring windbourne, and hex removal + energy management wherever you could fit it in is always good. You want to put spiteful on damage dealers and migraine on monks, quickly stack with malaise and conjure then spread AoE hexes. If the migraine+spiteful is stacked properly then after you get the aoe hexes off you should have no problem re-applying migraine and spiteful every time they recharge. Basically what you are doing is making atleast 4 major hexes on them that need their hex removal to remove them as well as the crap hexes that are stacked on top of them, then have stuff like soothing images and suffering that will hurt them over time and they cannot remove because their are other more important hexes, make sure you have monks well equiped to fight 15-20 minute slowkill matches against teams with good hex removal. I could get more specific with the builds but I think you can work with this

Yes you need to have mesmers shutting down the monks, you can do the hex aproach or use surgers.

2 Necros could use SS aslong you have good communication, 1 is usually ok tho.

So a team of say:

1 Necro Spitefull, with cover hexes
2 Surge Mesmers(with Mind Wrack)
1 Warrior
1 Other (Trapper I would use)
3 Monks

Something like this would do well for you, they will remove hexes but the will need to remove a lot of crap to get to the SS, also when being energy denied they got other things to worry about than your SS.

Their warrior will either attack thru the SS or stop doing anything for 20 secs, u win either way. Pets and heros are good targets too.

The idea up to now as been well expalined, so I'll just add a little something in there.

I often run those types of necro build, more often in Arenas but also at several occasions in gvg. I found that putting Enfeeble in your skill set is quite practical, against decent teams that deal considerable physical damage you should end up as a target pretty fast, so tossing Enfeeble in between SS and PB is great when you have a warrior attached to you.
